Police arrest man on multiple charges

YOUNGSTOWN -- Police arrested Brandon Owens, who hadn't been reporting to the Ohio Adult Parole Authority as scheduled, on charges of carrying a concealed weapon, aggravated trafficking in drugs, possession of drugs and illegal possession of a weapon because he has a prior conviction.
He was arraigned Tuesday in municipal court, and bond was set at $100,000. A preliminary hearing was set for March 15. Members of the Mahoning Valley Violent Crimes Task Force arrested Owens, 22, of Lexington Avenue on the city's North Side, on Monday.
Police found a loaded 9 mm handgun and the suspected drugs in his coat when they stopped him on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, reports show.
Owens pleaded guilty in February 2005 to charges of carrying a concealed weapon and for illegally having a weapon. He was sentenced to nine months in prison to be followed by three years' parole, records show.
