Pa. precincts lack workers for polls

MERCER, Pa. -- Several poll workers are needed for the May 16 primary election, said Mercer County Director of Elections Dr. Thomas Rookey.
Republican minority inspectors are needed in Farrell precincts 11, 12, 13 and 23, as well as Findley and Fredonia precincts; Hermitage precinct NW8; Sharon precinct 32; and Wheatland. A Democrat minority inspector is needed in Mercer South precinct.
The minority inspectors must be registered members of the designated party.
Also needed are election clerks in Findley, Greenville 1, Hermitage SW3, Jackson, New Vernon and Otter Creek. Clerks must be registered voters.
All poll workers will be expected to work election day and will be paid $100.
They also will have to attend a 90-minute training session on the county's new voting machines and a 75-minute general training session before the election. They will receive a small reimbursement for attending the training sessions. Those interested should call the election office at (724) 662-7542 or by fax at (724) 662-2189.
