Ex- deputy faces more charges

AUSTINTOWN -- A former Mahoning County deputy sheriff already convicted of one charge and awaiting trial on another has been charged with another crime.
Kim Marciano, 43, whose last known address court records list as Wampum Avenue in Youngstown, appeared Wednesday before Judge David D'Apolito of Mahoning County Court on a charge of complicity to grand theft, a felony.
The judge set her bond at $5,000 and a preliminary hearing is set for April 10.
Larese Jones, 28, also of Wampum Avenue, faces the same charge, but he is hospitalized at St. Elizabeth Health Center with a gunshot wound from an unrelated case and wasn't in court, police said.
Detective Sgt. Frank Tomasino said the pair is accused of opening a checking account with a minimal amount of money, receiving starter checks, and Marciano writing a check Feb. 2 at Alpine Motors, South Meridian Road, for more than $8,000 for a 1998 Mercedes Benz. Funds in the couple's account didn't cover the check, however.
Marciano was convicted this week in Youngstown Municipal Court of theft for taking steaks from a grocery store. She was fined, put on probation and ordered to perform community service.
She was arraigned Tuesday in that same court on a charge of unauthorized use of a vehicle. She is accused of using a car without the consent of a rental car company, taking the car out of state, and keeping it for more than two days.
