LORDSTOWN COUNCIL Girard company gets contract to construct sidewalks, sewers
LORDSTOWN -- Village council has awarded a $131,000 contract to a Girard company to construct sidewalks and storm sewers. Council awarded the contract Monday to Foust Construction Co., the lowest bidder.
Ron Barnhart, planning and zoning administrator, said one segment of the walkway will run along the east side of Salt Springs Road, from state Route 45 and Salt Springs north to the village park.
The other length will run on the south side of Salt Springs, from the fire station to the village administration building.
There will be about 6,000 feet of sidewalk. Some 3,000 feet of storm sewer will be installed in areas along the sidewalks that currently have open ditches, Barnhart said.
The total project cost is $181,000, with the village picking up the engineering cost and 20 percent of the construction cost.
The $131,000 is being provided by the Federal Highway Administration's Transportation Enhancement Program and administered by the Ohio Department of Transportation and Eastgate Council of Governments.
Barnhart said construction will get under way in July and will take about two months to complete.
