Girl, 16, escapes from justice center

YOUNGSTOWN -- Police are searching for a female who escaped from the Martin P. Joyce Juvenile Justice Center at 4:16 p.m. Sunday with another female.
At large is Marquesha Shine, 16. Police said Marquesha asked to use the bathroom, pushed a guard into a holding cell, closed the door and took keys from within the door.
She then released Lauren Whatley, also 16, and the two escaped through two doors to the back parking lot, leaving the area on foot, authorities said.
Whatley was apprehended by a maintenance worker in the Andrews Avenue area after she struck him several times, police said.
She was returned to the facility and charged with simple assault.
