BAZAARS
XSalem Memorial Building, 785 E. State St., is inviting vendors to participate in a Spring Bazaar to be held March 17 and 18. The total cost for the two days is $25 plus one item to be donated for a Chinese auction to be held March 18. Homemade candies and baked goods also will be sold. Lunches of homemade soup, sloppy joes, sandwiches and desserts will be available from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 17 and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 18. For information call (330) 332-5512.
CARDS/BINGO
XSt. James the Apostle Parish, state Route 422 West, New Bedford, Pa., will hold a card and bingo party from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $5 and include lunch, refreshments, and table and door prizes. There will be a 50-50 raffle. For more information call (724) 964-8276.
NIGHT AT THE RACES
XNortheast Ohio Adoption Services (NOAS) will hold a night at the races March 24 at DiLucia's Banquet Center, 2610 Elm Road N.E., Warren. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. for a light buffet available until 9. Races begin at 7:15, ending with an auctioned race with the winning horse sharing the proceeds. There also will be a Chinese basket auction and a drawing. The cost is $15 per person or $120 for a table of ten. XNorth Lima Mennonite Church, 90 Mennonite Drive, North Lima, will hold a rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. There also will be a lunch stand.
SPECIAL EVENTS
XFriends of Boardman Library are seeking donations of gently used books, including children's books, and magazines, tapes, videos and CDs for the library book cart. Donations will be accepted from 10 a.m. to noon the third Saturday of each month at the library.
XThe United Nations Association of the USA, Youngstown Area Chapter, will hold a joint meeting with the Youngstown Branch of the American Association of University Women, the Boardman-Canfield Branch of the American Association of University Women, and the League of Women voters for a second annual community program celebrating International Women's Day on Thursday at Park Vista Community Room, 1216 Fifth St., Youngstown. The topic will be "Women's Rights and International Peace," and the speaker will be the Rev. Patricia M. Christ of Richard Brown Memorial United Methodist Church. A social reception at 5:30 p.m. will be followed by a dinner of chicken fricassee, rice, vegetable, salad and dessert at 6. The cost is $10 (students eat free), and dinner reservations can be made with Mary Smith, (330) 743-2710.
