YOUNGSTOWN -- The Youngstown Area Community Theatre Alliance has announced a new program to honor theater personnel who have provided exemplary service.
The program, known as The Legends of the Theatre Honors, is patterned after the Kennedy Center Honors, in which five to six people from the entertainment industry are honored yearly at Lincoln Center in New York. In the local version, three local theater people will be honored each year and will be installed into the Theatre Hall of Honor. The Hall of Honor will be located at the Youngstown Playhouse.
The reasoning for locating the Hall at the Playhouse is because the Playhouse is one of the oldest continually operating community theaters, according to a press release from YACTA. The installation evening each year will begin with a dinner in the Moyer Room at the Playhouse, followed by the installation presentation and program in the theater.
Each YACTA member theater is eligible to nominate up to three candidates to be considered each year. Nominated candidates can be from any theater -- member or non-member but the nomination itself must be made by a YACTA affiliated theater. Nominations are due to the YACTA offices by June with the final honorees being chosen by September.

Boardman nativeon Bocelli special
Dena Massaro, a cellist and Boardman native, will be appear on Thursday's installment of the PBS show "Great Performances," which is entitled "Andrea Bocelli: Amore Under the Desert Sky."
The concert special featuring the classical Italian singer will air locally at 8 p.m. on PBS 45/49.
The concert was filmed at Lake Las Vegas resort in December.
This is Massaro's second performance with Bocelli -- she played with him at Mandalay Bay resort with the Las Vegas Philharmonic in November 2004.
Massaro started playing the cello with the Boardman High School Orchestra. She received her bachelor's and masters degrees in music performance at Youngstown State University's Dana School of Music, and played with the Youngstown Symphony for six years before moving to Las Vegas in August of 2004
Massaro, the daughter of Norma Hartsock and Anthony Massaro, both of Boardman, also plays electric cello with Paragon, a show/rock band at the Bellagio and Mandalay Bay resorts in Las Vegas. She is a member of three other all-girl string groups -- Phat Strad, Bella Rumore and Strings of Ivy -- and has performed with Wayne Newton, Yes and Steve Miller Band.
Chamber musicat Westminster
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- Westminster College presents "An Evening of Chamber Music" at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Orr Auditorium.
The program includes Beethoven's Piano Trio Op. 1 No. 1 in Eb Major, Brahms' Piano Quartet Op. 60 in C minor, and Schoenfield's "Caf & eacute; Music."

BGSU chorus returns
WARREN -- The Bowling Green State University Men's Chorus, directed by Dr. William Skoog, returns to Christ Episcopal Church, 2726 Atlantic St., for two performances.
On Saturday, an evening program, beginning at 7 p.m. p.m., will offer a varied program of choral music. Continuing a longstanding tradition, the Chorus will join the congregation at the 10:30 a.m. Sunday worship service on March 12 to offer a sermon in music. The public is welcome at both the free concert and the worship service.
BGSU Men's Chorus is an auditioned large singing ensemble open to all male students at Bowling Green State University. Their motto and reputation as being "America's Finest Singing Machine" is well deserved, having a tradition of over 30 years of excellence.
