NCAA Division III Championships
EWING, N.J. -- Thiel College juniors Corey Murphy and Mike Kemble (Southeast) failed to advance to the second day of competition at the 2006 NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships.
Murphy, the number four seed at 165 pounds, earned a bye in the opening round before suffering a pin fall loss (4:45) to fifth seed Gerald Bowne of York College. After dropping into the consolation bracket, Murphy (22-5) fell to third-seeded Richard Howard of McDaniel College 13-7.
Kemble (22-5), who entered the tournament unseeded at 157 pounds, drew top seed Joey Galante of The College of New Jersey in the opening round and fell 6-2. In the consolation bracket Kemble lost by fall (2:01) to seventh-seeded Elliot Spence from the College of Mt. Saint Joseph.
