Boardman Baptist Church, 1207 Shields Road, Boardman, is marking a milestone.
What: 50th anniversary celebration Sunday. Worship will be at 10:45 a.m. followed by a dinner at Calvary Baptist Church, 1463 Shields Road. Boardman Baptist doesn't have the space to accommodate a large gathering. Eleanor Massie, wife of the Rev. Dennis L. Massie of Boardman Baptist, contacted Calvary to make arrangements for the anniversary dinner in its large fellowship hall. Calvary offered the space for free. "They are so generous to us. We're providing the food, but their church members are serving," Mrs. Massie said. An afternoon program at 2 p.m. at Boardman Baptist will feature messages from former pastors, photos from church history and special music.
Special guests: The Rev. Paul Ague of Florida, now retired, who was pastor when the church was built, and Cecil Johnston of Tennessee, who was first choir director.
