Champion suffers 74-68 setback to Gilmour Academy in Div. III

PAINESVILLE -- The Champion High basketball team forced Gilmour Academy into overtime Wednesday night, but the Flashes suffered a 74-68 setback in the extra session in the Division III sectional at Lakeland Community College.
Gilmour outscored the Flashes 12-6 in the extra period to advance to district action next week.
Michael Alexanderleeks paced the winners with 25 points while Kevin Komperda added 19.
Champion (7-14) was led by Mark Jackson with 27 points, while Markel Vaughn added 14 and Tyler Kish had 13.
Pymatuning Valley defeated Garrettsville 51-33 in the other contest.
Division IV
WARREN -- Seth Robertson scored 18 points and Eric Day added 13 as Newberry eliminated Maplewood 57-53 in the Division IV sectional tournament at Warren Harding Wednesday.
Marty Urchek packed the Rockets with 15 points, while Mike Hillman added 11.
In the second game Mogadore defeated St. John and Paul 67-53.
