LaBrae advances 77-51 behind Hartman, Ryan 17-point efforts

KIRTLAND -- Danny Hartman and Mike Ryan each scored 17 points as LaBrae defeated Grand Valley 77-51 Tuesday in the boys Division III basketball tournament at Lakeland Community College.
Tonight Gilmour Academy meets Champion. That winner meets LaBrae Saturday at 6:15 p.m.
Jeff Morgan also scored 10 points for the Vikings who got scoring from 10 players.
Kyle Rowan pulled down 10 rebounds as LaBrae controlled the boards, 37-22.
After a 25-point first quarter, LaBrae took a 44-26 lead at the half.
Kennedy Catholic 57,Commodore Perry 49
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- Four players scored in double figures as the Eagles posted the District 10, Class A win.
Kennedy Catholic, which will meet the West Middlesex-Villa Maria winner Friday, also defeated Commodore Perry twice during the season, 63-43 and 66-48.
Pat Mastrian and Kyle Randall each scored 15, David Jackson had 13 and Chris Tacsi added 12 points for the Eagles (19-6).
After leading by just three points at the break, 24-21, Kennedy out-scored Commodore Perry 18-8 over the next eight minutes to take a 42-29 into the fourth quarter.
Commodore Perry's season ends at 15-11.
Western Pennsylvania
Villa Maria defeated West Middlesex, 79-75, in the other District 10 Class A semifinal, eliminating the Big Reds at 20-6.
In Class AAA, General McLane edged Grove City, 56-54, but the Eagles (23-3) will play in the District 10 consolation game for a berth in the state tournament.
Also, Farrell lost to Serra Catholic, 54-44, in the semifinals of the WPIAL Class A tournament, but the Steelers (18-6) will still advance to the PIAA tournament as no worse than the fourth seed.
