Road Runnersto race Sunday
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Youngstown Road Runners Club will hold their 17th annual Mill Creek Distance Classic Half Marathon and 5K in Mill Creek Park on Sunday at 8:45 a.m.
Proceeds from this race will help to fund the Youngstown Road Runners Club's two main programs: the YRRC Scholarship Fund and the Shoe Fund.
The YRRC presents a scholarship to a local runner who plans on continuing his or her running career in college.
The YRRC Shoe Program gives running shoes to high school runners who cannot afford them. The runner must be a member of a high school cross country team that participates in the Suburban League.
The races will be run from the James L. Wick Recreation Area of Mill Creek Park. The start times are: 8:45 a.m. for the half marathon and 8:50 a.m. for the 5K.
Early race packet pick up and registration will be at Second Sole on Saturday. Early registration for the half marathon costs $20 and race day registration costs $25 for the half marathon.

Fitch bowlersadvance to state
AKRON -- Austintown Fitch's boys and girls bowling teams advanced to the state tournament, along with the Struthers boys and Hubbard girls teams following regional competition recently at Midway Lanes.
The Fitch and Hubbard girls will be in action Saturday at Shawnee Lanes in Chillicothe starting at 10 a.m.
The Fitch and Struthers boys compete at Shawnee on March 11.
At the girls regional, Fitch was runner-up after rolling 4,453. Hubbard placed fourth with 4,152. The regional champion was Akron Garfield with 4,674 while Minerva was third (4,359) and Perry fifth (4,140).
Girard High's Kelley Bondor was the lone individual not on a qualifying team to advance. Bondor finished fifth after rolling 585. Struthers High's Melissa Mettee also had 585, but Bondor won the tie-breaker on the strength of her 247 single.
Vermillion won the boys regional with 5,090 pinfall, followed by Fitch's 5006, Perry's 4,966, Struthers' 4894 and Akron Hoban's 4884.
Richardsonis honored
GIBSONIA, Pa. -- Wilson High graduate Reggie Richardson has been named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Player of the Week for the second week in a row.
A member of the Division III Lake Erie College men's basketball team, Richardson was the go-to guy again for the Storm, propelling Lake Erie to its first AMCC championship.
In the title game versus Pitt-Greensburg, Richardson lit up for 22 points, including a three-pointer to tie the game with 14 seconds left in regulation to force overtime.
The All-AMCC first team selection also dished eight assists and grabbed five rebounds.
Ursuline, JFK advance
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Ursuline and Warren JFK freshman boys basketball teams won to advance in the Steel Valley Conference tournament.
Ursuline defeated Chaney, 44-22. Dominique Cole had 12 points and nine rebound. Leading Chaney was Dwaylin Gibbs with eight points and four rebounds.
Warren JFK ousted Beaver Local, 36-32. Leading JFK was Dom Lapalla with 12 points. Sean Hiemstra scored seven points for Beaver Local.

Cowhers lookingat N.C. property
RALEIGH, N.C. -- A trust affiliated with Pittsburgh Steelers coach Bill Cowher has bought a $2.5 million home in Raleigh, documents filed in Wake County show.
Cowher's wife, Kaye, declined to confirm they had bought the 7,400-square-foot, five-bedroom house, but says she and her husband plan to eventually move to Raleigh.
