2 pickups collide, killing 1, injuring 2
NORTH GEORGETOWN -- Two pickup trucks collided on Georgetown Road in Knox Township and took the life of a Salem man.
Michael Ferguson, 26, died Wednesday afternoon, and the driver of the other truck, Corey Ramsey, 20, of East Rochester, was in critical condition Wednesday night in St. Elizabeth Health Center, Youngstown, the Lisbon Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said. Ramsey was taken from the scene by helicopter, as was Ferguson's passenger, his 4-year-old daughter, Allison.
Allison was taken to Akron Children's Hospital. The patrol said Allison was properly belted in a child-safety seat and suffered minor injuries.
According to the patrol's preliminary reports, Ramsey was eastbound on Georgetown Road just west of Westville Lake Road around 3:55 p.m. The truck went left of center on a graded, straight stretch of road and struck Ferguson's westbound truck. The crash remains under investigation.
