Three state awards presented to Canfield K. of C. council

CINCINNATI -- The Canfield Council 11369, Knights of Columbus, was the recipient of three awards at the state convention held during the Memorial Day weekend in Cincinnati.
The council received the 2005 Holidays for the Hungry campaign award for providing food and other items for the less fortunate in cooperation with Welcome Wagon of Canfield and Canfield Lions Club.
The council also received the Division One Best Community Activity award, which is presented to smaller councils in the state, and the statewide Best Community Activity award and plaque.
Through the Holidays for the Hungry campaign, more than 800 people were fed during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays last year. Making the project possible were Canfield and Ellsworth residents who filled paper bags with food items and left the bags on porches of recipients. The council also solicited food items from patrons at Canfield Giant Eagle and Nemenz IGA stores.
The Knights of Columbus is a worldwide Catholic men's organization dedicated to community, church, family and country. Council 11369 is associated with St. Michael Church in Canfield and St. Paul Monastery in Ellsworth Township.
