Roth wins 3-0 behind Hedegore

YOUNGSTOWN -- Jeremy Hedegore pitched a one-hitter with 12 strikeouts as Roth Brothers posted a 3-0 victory over Youngstown Metros in Youngstown Class AA League at Pemberton-Donnell Park.
Sean Wardle led Roth with three singles. Jonathan Habuda and Hedegore added two hits apiece. In the first inning, Grant Sevek singled with one out for Metros' only hit.
Frank Santore, Rick Gozur, Adam Cox and Brent Park each hit two singles as Bud's/DiCioccio (16-1) topped O'Donald's/Tri-County, 8-1. Jason Savage hit a pair of singles for O'Donald's.
Roth 5, Metros 2
Roth Brothers scored three runs in the top of the 10th inning as it turned back Youngstown Metros 5-2.
With two outs, Erick Jones, with three hits, doubled. Joe Bettura walked. Brian Frasco singled home Jones. Barry Wardle doubled home Bettura, and Frasco scored on a groundout. Tom Clayton hit a pair of singles for the Metros.
Metros sent 11 batters to the plate as it scored six runs in the fifth inning and posted a 6-2 victory over Penn Ohio.
Mike Elisio hit two singles to pace the Metros. Steve Lumpp hit a triple and single, while Jason Bartin hit two singles for Penn-Ohio.
Kevin Hogue and Matt Backes combined to pitch a three-hitter in leading T.C. Merchants past Metros, 2-1.
The Merchants scored the winning run in the bottom of the eight inning. B.J. Schinaldi was hit by a pitched ball and moved to second when Andrew Chick reached first base on an error. Shinaldi scored on a single by Adam Daugherty.
Sevek, who was on base four times, singled for the Metros in the eighth inning. Dave Vitko hit a triple in the fifth.
