MLB ROUNDUP Thursday's other games

INTERLEAGUE
Athletics 6, Padres 5, 14 innings
SAN DIEGO -- Pinch-hitter Antonio Perez drew a bases-loaded walk with two outs in the 14th inning, and Oakland edged San Diego to avoid a three-game sweep in a matchup of the top two teams out West. After Athletics closer Huston Street squandered a two-run lead in the ninth, Oakland rallied against Scott Cassidy (4-4) without getting a hit. They had three walks, including one intentional, a hit batsman and a sacrifice. Perez, hitting .082, got ahead of Cassidy 3-0. The right-hander threw two strikes, then missed outside to bring in Marco Scutaro, who drew a leadoff walk. Ron Flores (1-1) held San Diego to one hit in four innings for the win.
Giants 2, Rangers 1
SAN FRANCISCO -- Omar Vizquel's go-ahead single with two outs in the eighth inning sent San Francisco to a victory over Texas, completing a three-game sweep. Jason Ellison hit a sacrifice fly to drive in the Giants' first run and scored on Vizquel's single off Francisco Cordero. Scott Feldman (0-2) allowed Ellison's leadoff walk. Jonathan Sanchez (2-0) earned the win, and Jeremy Accardo finished for his third save. Texas lost its fifth straight game and has scored only 11 runs during the skid. This marked the Rangers' first losing road trip of the year (1-5).
Red Sox 4, Mets 2
BOSTON -- Coco Crisp made a spectacular, diving catch to preserve Curt Schilling's 10th win and the Boston Red Sox stretched their winning streak to 12 games. David Ortiz homered in the eighth inning for Boston, sealing a three-game sweep in a matchup of first-place teams. The Red Sox matched the longest winning streak in the majors since Houston won 12 in a row from Aug. 27 to Sept. 8, 2004. Boston also tied the major league record of 16 straight errorless games set by the St. Louis Cardinals from July 30 to Aug. 16, 1992. The Mets were the only big league club that hadn't lost three straight all season. Schilling (10-2) became Boston's second 10-game winner, one day after Josh Beckett reached the plateau. New York starter Tom Glavine faltered after five strong innings, failing to extend his big league-leading win total to 12.
Reds 6, Royals 5
CINCINNATI -- Ken Griffey Jr. homered for the fourth straight game and Adam Dunn's RBI double in the eighth inning gave Cincinnati the victory. Kansas City had tied the game at 5 with three runs in the top of the eighth but the Reds answered right back to win consecutive games for the first time since June 8. Pinch-hitter Javier Valentin singled off Elmer Dessens (4-7) with two outs in the eighth for the Reds. Ryan Freel ran for Valentin and stole second. Dessens walked Felipe Lopez and was replaced by Jimmy Gobble, who gave up Dunn's line drive over the head of right fielder Reggie Sanders. David Weathers (3-2), who got two outs in the eighth, was the winner and Todd Coffey pitched the ninth for his seventh save in eight tries.
Blue Jays 8, Nationals 4
TORONTO -- Roy Halladay won his 10th game and Toronto completed a three-game sweep of Washington Nationals. Lyle Overbay homered and Eric Hinske had three hits and three RBIs for the Blue Jays, who moved a season-high 10 games over .500 (44-34). Marlon Anderson homered twice off Halladay (10-2) for the Nationals, who have lost 14 of 18. Staked to a 5-1 lead in the third, Halladay allowed four runs and six hits, striking out five without a walk in 61/3 innings. The 2003 AL Cy Young award winner took a three-hitter into the seventh before being chased by consecutive doubles by Daryle Ward, Ryan Zimmerman and Anderson.
Phillies 4, Orioles 0
BALTIMORE -- The Philadelphia Phillies ended their seven-game losing streak, using an outstanding pitching performance by Ryan Madson.
NATIONAL LEAGUE
Brewers 5, Cubs 4
CHICAGO -- Spot starter Geremi Gonzalez worked five innings for the win and the Milwaukee Brewers sent Mark Prior to his third straight. Gonzalez, who was 11-9 as a rookie with the Cubs in 1997 before arm problems derailed his career, made the most of his first start for the Brewers. He got the call when Doug Davis was scratched a day earlier with a tight back. Gonzalez (1-0) allowed three hits and two unearned runs with five walks and six strikeouts to earn his first win as a starter since May 8, 2005, with the Red Sox.
