Commissioners accept resignation of senior advisory council member

WARREN -- Trumbull County commissioners accepted the resignation Wednesday of one member of the county's Senior Citizens Advisory Council.
Christopher D. McLaughlin of Hubbard had been a council member since March, but new job and family obligations have made it impossible for him to continue.
The 11-member council helps oversee spending of the $2.6 million annually to be raised by the senior citizens levy approved by county voters last November.
In other business, commissioners:
UAuthorized Commissioner James Tsagaris to execute a grant agreement with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources for a $25,000 grant that would be used toward a feasibility study for the proposed lodge or other hospitality facility at Mosquito Creek Reservoir.
Officials have said the $85,000 study will look at such items as lodging occupancy, business climate, potential for business meetings, clientele, competition among lodges, access to water and sewer and marketing.
The remainder of the funding will come from a coalition of government and civic groups such as Trumbull 100, Cortland city and the county's tourism bureau.
UApproved the promotion of Thomas Gladd to the position of assistant chief building official with the county building inspection department. He will earn $48,638 annually.
