Struthers man jailed in break-in

STRUTHERS -- A 34-year-old Seventh Street man is in Mahoning County jail in lieu of $3,500 surety bond on charges related to a break-in at Frank's Party Shop, 2741 E. Midlothian Blvd., early Sunday.
Edward L. Dial pleaded innocent Monday in municipal court to possession of criminal tools and breaking and entering.
Dial was arrested by Struthers police after they were called at 1:25 a.m. by a resident who saw a man acting in a suspicious manner around the store. Police found a broken window on the south side of the building and thought the suspect was still inside.
The business owner opened the front door for police, who then called for the suspect to surrender. He did not respond, and police found him hiding in a cabinet in the rear storage room, where he was arrested without incident, according to reports.
Police also found a yellow book bag, which they think belongs to the suspect, containing 38 Ohio Lottery scratch-off tickets, 11 bottles of vodka and 13 packs of cigarettes.
Later, police recovered a cell phone and checkbooks found in the suspect's residence, which had been stolen from a car in Youngstown about a week ago.
