Shaffer fires 2-hitter for Bud's; Conkey, Santore smack homers

YOUNGSTOWN -- Eric Shaffer (2-0) pitched a two-hitter with nine strikeouts as Bud's DiCioccio posted a 11-9 victory over Metro Ice in a Class AA League baseball game at Pemberton-Donnell Park.
Josh Conkey hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning and Frank Santore hit a two-run home run in the sixth inning to pace Bud's.
Mark Nightingale, Rick Gozur and Conkey each had two hits for Bud's.
WARREN -- Penn Ohio built a 6-2 lead, then held off a late rally by Champion Molded Plastics to win 6-5 in a Warren AA League contest.
Mike Sweeney, D.J. Cross and John Dubic paced Molded Plastics with two hits apiece.
WARREN -- O'Donald's/Tri County scored seven runs in the third inning, then thwarted a late rally by Reds to prevail 7-5 at Perkins Park.
WARREN -- Willie Sly and John Schiraldi had three hits three RBIs each as T.C. Merchants upended P.I. & amp;I. Express 19-0 at Packer Park.
Kyle Gruzsecki worked five innings and struck out three to pick up the win.
Gabe McKee, Marty Kanestsky and Dustin Thomas, with two doubles, had two hits apiece for the Merchants. Chris Lauderman and Bill McCartney each had two hits for Express.
