Contract awarded for tank upgrade in Boardman

BOARDMAN -- Township trustees awarded A. Graziani and Co. of New Castle an underground storage tank upgrade project.
Trustees Kathy Miller, Robyn R. Gallitto and Elaine R. Mancini unanimously voted at a special meeting Monday to approve the $49,474 bid. Road superintendent Larry Wilson and engineer Gary Diorio from MS Consultants of Youngstown recommended Graziani's low bid.
The township has two gasoline storage tanks behind the government building on Market Street, and the Environmental Protection Agency recently revised the regulations to include spill prevention and electronic leak detection, Diorio said.
He said this project will bring the tanks into compliance with EPA regulations. The project will be funded by the township's building maintenance account, and the job is expected to be completed by October.
