CELEBRATION This week marks McDonald's 72nd annual homecoming

McDONALD -- The 72nd annual McDonald Homecoming, sponsored by the McDonald Fire Department's Social Organization, starts Wednesday and continues through Saturday.
Homecoming events are on the village green at the corner of Ohio Avenue and Fifth Street across from the Municipal Building.

The fifth annual "Run of The Mill" race will precede the start of the Homecoming parade on Wednesday with a one-mile downhill run to the McDonald Steel Mill through the center of the village on Ohio Avenue.
The race starts at 5:45 p.m. at the top of Ohio Avenue at Marshall Road at Holiday Hot Tubs and will proceed straight down Ohio Avenue to finish through the gates of McDonald Steel. The entry fee is $10 for pre-registered racers and $12 the day of the race.
To enter in advance, contact village hall for an entry form and mail entries to McDonald Cross Country Club, 998 Parkside Place, McDonald 44437.

The run is to benefit the McDonald Boys and Girls Cross County Team.
Awards will be given after the parade at Holiday Hot Tubs. The overall winner, male and female, will get $100; runner-up male and female, $50. Runners will be placed in various age groups.
Other entertainment
The Homecoming program will start with the parade at 6 p.m. Wednesday on Ohio Avenue; rides and concessions on the green from 6 to 11 p.m.; and bingo from 7:15 to 11 p.m. at the Ramsay Pavilion.
The Performing Arts Center Dance Show will be on the basketball courts immediately after the parade.
Thursday and Friday events will include rides and concessions, from 6 to 11 p.m. and bingo from 7 to 11 p.m.
On Saturday, several traditional Homecoming events will start with a free pancake breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m.; games for all ages at 10 a.m., rides and concessions from 6 to 11 p.m.; bingo from 7 to 11 p.m.; and fireworks by Zambelli Fireworks Internationale of New Castle at 11 p.m.
The games on Saturday will be held at the south end of the tennis courts. Games are subject to change.
Immediately after the games, free ice cream will be provided by the fire department's social organization.
