Woman arrested
YOUNGSTOWN -- Police responded to investigate a large fight with an alleged firearm in the area of the 2000 block of Mount Vernon Avenue and arrested one woman in an unrelated matter. During the call at 6:41 p.m. Friday, Nicole D. Herring, 31, of East Midlothian Boulevard, approached officers and loudly complained that she had called police earlier because her son had been beaten up and that police had not responded. A crowd of 15 to 20 people had gathered at the South Side street. Officers tried to explain to her how calls were taken in priority, but her behavior remained aggressive and she yelled profanities at them, a police report says. She was arrested on a disorderly conduct charge, and a search of her purse revealed a bag of suspected crack cocaine. Herring was taken to Mahoning County jail and will appear Monday in Youngstown Municipal Court.
