Lutheran church to honor anniversary of its pastor
CANFIELD -- Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 550 N. Broad St., will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the ordination of its pastor, the Rev. Constance Mentzer, on Sunday.
A musical program will begin at 9:30 a.m. with the service at 10 featuring special selections by the Sanctuary Choir directed by Tim L. Elder, organist and director of music ministry.
The Rev. Mrs. Mentzer attended Youngstown State University and earned a bachelor's degree in communications from Bowling Green State University. She received a master of divinity degree from Trinity Lutheran Seminary. Mrs. Mentzer was ordained June 20, 1986, at Weaver Chapel at Wittenburg University.
She has served as a parish worker at Bethany English Lutheran Church, Cleveland, from 1981-82; seminary internship at Evangelical Lutheran Church, Frederick, Md., from 1984-85; pastor of Faith Lutheran Church, Jackson, from 1986-89; pastor and redeveloper at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Bexley, from 1989-95; interim pastor at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Brooklyn, Ohio, from 1996-96; associate pastor of First English Lutheran Church, Mansfield, 1996-97; and pastor of Lord of Life since 1997.
Mrs. Mentzer is active in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America Synodical and works with the outdoor ministry at Camp Mowana in Mansfield.
She and her husband, the Rev. Timothy A. Mentzer, pastor of Living Lord Lutheran Church in Howland, live in Canfield with their son.
