Broadcasting exhibitfocuses on the Valley
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Mahoning Valley Historical Society is celebrating the 80th anniversary of commercial broadcasting in the Mahoning Valley with a traveling exhibit. It will start at the Summer Festival of the Arts at Youngstown State University on July 8 and move to various places around the Valley, such as Maag Library, the Warren and Youngstown Public Libraries and the Canfield Fair.
The exhibit will consist of clips from the past 80 years, including John F. Kennedy's assassination in 1963, and the building of the Southern Park and Eastwood malls. James Sturgill of the MVHS said the exhibit will reach audiences from throughout the Valley, because "what our local media broadcasts to us every night is more than just the news -- it is the story of our lives, our history."
