Baptist group sets sessions for its annual meetings



'God's Churches in Unity' is the theme for the meeting.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Shenango Valley Baptist Association will have its annual meetings next week at Mount Sinai Baptist Church, 328 S. Forest St. The theme is "God's Churches in Unity." Sessions will be:
Monday, welcome program at 7 p.m. featuring a concert by The New Mighty Sons of Joy, a gospel group, and participants including Morning Star, Oak, Christian Love and Mount Sinai Baptist churches and Greater Liberty Baptist Church in Campbell.
Tuesday, opening session. Speakers will be the Rev. Lesley Parker of Oak Baptist at 10 a.m., the Rev. H. Austin of Greater Liberty at 1 p.m. and the Rev. Calvin Bankhead of Morning Star at 7.
Wednesday, Sunday school department. The program will be the Rev. Randall Kitchen of Oak Baptist speaking at 10 a.m.; youth from participating churches will present skits, music and spiritual readings at 1 p.m.; and the Rev. Walter Gillespie of Faith Temple Baptist Church in Campbell speaking at 7.
Thursday, mission department. Speakers will be the Rev. Sylvia Jennings at 10 a.m., the Rev. Laura Smith of Antioch Baptist Church at 1 p.m. and Paulette McQueen of Mount Sinai at 7.
Friday, parent body and election. Speakers will be the Rev. Olton Johnson of Greater Liberty and alternate, the Rev. Harold Logan of Beulah Baptist at 10 a.m.; the Rev. C.L. Ellis of Morning Star will give the memorial sermon at 1 p.m. and election of officers for 2007 will be conducted; and the Rev. George Wilkins of Mount Sinai will present the moderator's address at 7. All programs are open to the public.
