Angels for Animals plans 'Doggie Daze Reunion'
Dogs winning a photo contest will have their pictures in next year's calendar.
CANFIELD -- Angels for Animals will host its first "Doggie Daze Reunion" from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 2 at the Lariccia Animal Center, 4750 state Route 165.
Everyone with an Angels dog will receive a special gift bag full of goodies. "Scrappy" from the Mahoning Valley Scrappers will be on hand to meet kids from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Angel Boutique will be open for shopping, and Angels will be selling their famous, homemade apple pies (Dutch apple and regular).
Those who may be interested in adopting from the shelter will have an opportunity to tour Angel Place and see the many pets awaiting adoption.
Since it opened in 1993, the nonprofit agency has adopted out more than 7,000 dogs. Nearly 10,000 more dogs have been neutered through one of the spay/neuter programs during that time.
The contest
Angels will also kick off its Incredible Pet Photo Contest at the event. The entry fee is $5 per photo. Individuals can enter as many photos as they like. Entries will be accepted until Oct. 1 at Angels, PetSmart, the Canfield Fair, the Angels Sept. 10 Bike Run and the Boardman Oktoberfest. All entered photos will travel with Angels at all of its public events, and the public can vote for their favorite photos as many times as they want for $1 per vote. The winners will be tallied Oct. 15. The 12 selected winners will be featured in the Angels calendar. The winners will each receive 10 of the pet calendars and a $50 gift certificate for the Angels pet retail area or the Angeltique gift shop. The gift certificate can also be used toward the adoption of shelter animals.
The event also will include refreshments and raffles.
