Jammers beat M.V. again in last at-bat

Mahoning Valley plays its home opener tonight against Williamsport.
JAMESTOWN, N.Y. -- Jacob Blackwood's one-out double in the bottom of the ninth inning scored Scott Cousins with the winning run, as the Jamestown Jammers defeated the Mahoning Valley Scrappers, 3-2, Thursday, in the finale of a three-game New York-Penn League series at Diethrick Park.
The victory by the Jammers was their second of the series in their last at-bat.
Cousins led off the Jamestown ninth with an infield single. He was advanced to second on a sacrifice by Andrew Saylor, then Scrappers pitcher Daniel Frega (0-1) intentionally walked David Mense.
That set up Blackwood's game-winning hit to right field.
Andrew Lytle had two hits to lead the Scrappers (1-2), who were limited to six singles overall by four Jamestown pitchers.
Cousins finished with three hits for Jamestown.
The game was delayed one hour, three minutes at the start by rain.
The Scrappers play host to the Williamsport Crosscutters in their home opener at Eastwood Field tonight. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
