Flooding, outages strike

As a result of strong thunderstorms that slashed through the Mahoning and Shenango Valleys on Thursday, some residents have no electricity, and for many, it won't be restored until about midnight tonight.
Many areas dealt with flooded streets and downed trees and wires, but there were no injuries reported. Hard-hit by street flooding were Austintown and Boardman.
Police reported late Thursday evening that Boardman was hit by widespread power outages.
Ohio Edison reported that 800 customers in northern Columbiana County lost power. Eight thousand customers in Mahoning County lost power, with 2,800 still in the dark by late Thursday.
In the Warren-Howland area of Trumbull County, 2,600 people lost power, with 1,200 still doing without late in the evening.
In Mercer County, 2,700 people were affected by outages. Thousands were still without power late in the evening.
Restoring power
Ohio Edison said power should be restored to everyone in Mahoning and Trumbull counties by midnight tonight. In Mercer, power was expected to be restored by 4 p.m. today.
In Hubbard, power was out on Drummond Avenue and in the Melody Lane and Fifth Avenue area. Hubbard police reported high water on some streets, but it receded.
Austintown had flooding "all over," with traffic backed up everywhere, a dispatcher reported.
