Panel votes no on giving levy money to Niles

WARREN -- The Trumbull County Senior Services Advisory Council has turned down a proposal to give $151,000 of the county's senior service levy money to the Niles Transit Authority.
The council tied on the issue 4-4 during its meeting Wednesday at the Trumbull County Board of Elections.
Voting in favor of the proposal were Thomas Klingeman, Jack O'Connell, Jack Foley and Robyn Hineman. Voting no were Jennie Dennison-Budak, Lena Franklin, Christy Boone and Janet McGeough. Not present were Tom Harwood and Chris McLaughlin.Jennie Dennison-Budak, council member, said that even though she thinks it's important to keep the transit authority going, the council shouldn't give it levy money. She said that the council is seeking proposals from companies offering to provide services to seniors and that it would be unfair to bidders to just give this money to Niles.
