MLB ROUNDUP \ Wednesday's other games

INTERLEAGUE
Padres 3, Rangers 2
ARLINGTON, Texas -- Pinch-runner Ben Johnson raced home from third with the go-ahead run in the ninth inning as San Diego took advantage of an error by Texas third baseman Hank Blalock. The score was tied at 2 and San Diego had runners on first and second on singles by former Ranger Adrian Gonzalez and Khalil Greene against ex-Padre Akinori Otsuka (2-3). With Vinny Castilla batting, Otsuka threw a wild pitch that bounced off catcher Gerald Laird, who retrieved the ball up the third base line and fired it to third trying to get Johnson, who was running for Gonzalez. But Blalock couldn't come up with the throw and was charged with an error.
Orioles 4, Marlins 0
BALTIMORE -- Erik Bedard ended another lengthy winning streak, this time with a pitching performance that was nearly perfect for seven innings. Bedard took a one-hitter into the eighth as Baltimore snapped Florida's nine-game winning streak. Javy Lopez homered, and Brian Roberts and Corey Patterson each had three hits for the Orioles.
Astros 5, Twins 3
HOUSTON -- Adam Everett had two doubles and two RBIs and Lance Berkman homered as Houston snapped Minnesota's eight-game winning streak. Preston Wilson singled off reliever Kyle Lohse (2-5) to start the Astros' two-out rally in the eighth that led to their 10th win in 14 games. Eric Munson walked before Jason Lane muscled a soft liner into right to score Wilson. Everett followed with a double off the left field wall to score Munson and knock Lohse out of the game before he retired a batter.
Brewers 4, Tigers 3
MILWAUKEE -- Rickie Weeks' two-run homer with two outs in the seventh inning helped Milwaukee snapped Detroit's six-game winning streak. Weeks' seventh homer of the season was off reliever Joel Zumaya. Detroit starter Nate Robertson gave up three runs -- two earned -- in 62/3 innings before giving up a pinch-hit single to Chris Barnwell, his first major league hit. Zumaya (3-1) came in and gave up the home run.
Angels 6, Giants 3
SAN FRANCISCO -- Maicer Izturis hit a tie-breaking, three-run double in the eighth inning, and Los Angeles avoided a three-game sweep. Juan Rivera hit a go-ahead two-run homer in the sixth but the Giants tied it the next inning when Barry Bonds entered as a pinch hitter with runners on the corners and no outs and grounded into a double play that allowed Pedro Feliz to score the tying run from third.
Red Sox 9, Nationals 3
BOSTON -- Jon Lester struck out 10 in six innings in his third major league game and David Ortiz hit a grand slam as Boston won its sixth straight. Lester, Boston's top pitching prospect when he joined the team on June 10, allowed three hits and two walks. He finished his night by striking out Matthew LeCroy on a 92 mph fastball. The left-hander pumped his fist before walking toward the dugout to a standing ovation.
Yankees 5, Phillies 0
PHILADELPHIA -- Jaret Wright combined with four relievers on a three-hitter to lead New York. Wright (4-4) gave up three hits, struck out a season-high six in five innings and drove in a run with a sacrifice fly. Johnny Damon went 3-for-3 with an RBI for New York, which has won two straight after losing eight of 11.
Devil Rays 3, Diamondbacks 2
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Rookie James Shields allowed four hits in seven innings and Rocco Baldelli continued his torrid hitting with a run-scoring double to help Tampa Bay beat Arizona. Shields (4-0) became the first Devil Rays pitcher to begin his career with four straight victories. He held the Diamondbacks hitless until the fifth inning and finished with five strikeouts and three walks. Baldelli, who missed all of 2005 and the first two months of this season with a variety of injuries, went 2-for-3 against Brandon Webb (8-3) and is hitting .388 with two homers and six RBIs in 13 games since coming off the disabled list.
White Sox 13, Cardinals 5
CHICAGO -- Paul Konerko, Jim Thome, Joe Crede and Juan Uribe homered for Chicago. The White Sox scored four runs in the first inning and five in the second to take control early and finished with 16 hits, four by Thome. Cardinals starter Jason Marquis (9-5), who had won six straight decisions, was pounded for 13 runs and 14 hits in five innings.
Blue Jays 6, Braves 3
ATLANTA -- Lyle Overbay had two RBIs in Toronto's four-run third inning to give Atlanta its longest losing streak in 18 years. Tim Hudson (6-6), who has dominated Toronto in his career, couldn't rescue the Braves from their first nine-game losing streak since opening the 1988 season with 10 straight losses. The Braves have lost 19 of 22 games.
NATIONAL LEAGUE
Reds 6, Mets 5
NEW YORK -- Brandon Phillips hit a two-out, two-run single off closer Billy Wagner in the ninth inning to help Cincinnati overcome Jose Reyes' hitting for the cycle. Wagner retired the first two batters easily but then walked Austin Kearns and pinch-hitter David Ross. Pinch-hitter Rich Aurilia reached on an infield single to third and Phillips followed with a sharp single to center. Kearns and pinch-runner Quinton McCracken scored to put the Reds in front 6-5. Wagner (3-1) blew his fourth save in 18 opportunities. Reyes hit his fourth career leadoff homer to extend his hitting streak to nine games. He doubled in the second, tripled into right-center in the fifth and grounded a single into center field in the ninth.
