Local rappers are offered distribution



YOUNGSTOWN -- The Whole Man Ministries' Stopping the Violence Committee held a show April 29 that paid off for some area artists.
Representatives from Universal, Verity and Black Box records were at the show, which was held at the Orthodox Center on the West Side. On June 8 and 13, offers for production on a Mixed CD, with distribution, and a tour were made by Black Box Records of Chicago to Kenny Ali, a rapper from the East Side; Netta White, a rapper from the North Side; Da Dark, a rap group from Warren; and Antonio Williams (Tonio), a rapper and singer from Cleveland.
The other artists who participated in the showcase were Darlene Brown and The C.O.R.E, of Youngstown; Mr. J, Warren; 2 p.m., Cleveland; and Virtuous, Cincinnati.
The artists will be among the special performers at the Stopping The Violence Idol Search Community Blockbuster July 1 from noon to 9 p.m. on Park Avenue, next to Wick Park, on the North Side.
