Country singer Mark Chesnutt will be the Dusty Armadillo, state Route 44 in Rootstown. The Armadillo, in case you've never been there, is an authentic country-music roadhouse. Doors open at 6 p.m. Come early, as it gets packed. Call (330) 325-0647 for ticket information.
The Total Package Band, one of the area's favorite dance-funk-jazz bands, will be at Skeeter's Jazz Bar from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. for Skeeter's one-year anniversary party. Total Package will also be at Campbell City Fest in Roosevelt Park, Campbell, Saturday, from 7-11 p.m.
A one-man show entitled "Clarence Darrow: Search for Justice" will be performed by actor Gary Anderson at 7:30 p.m. at First Unitarian Universalist Church of Youngstown, 1105 Elm St., Youngstown. Darrow, who was born in Kinsman, became known as America's greatest trail lawyer for his support of social causes in the last century. Call (330) 746-3067 for ticket information.
Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster and Livenation.com for John Mayer and Sheryl Crow, who will share a bill on Aug. 24 at Post-Gazette Pavilion. Prices are $36, $46 and $66.

It's entirely possible that you've never heard anything like Goran Ivanovic (right). A Croatian who is skilled in jazz guitar, he fuses the traditional music of his Balkan homeland with jazz to create an intricate and furiously-paced mosaic of original music.
