Trustees approve rule on for-sale vehicles in yards

MINERAL RIDGE-- Weathersfield Township trustees approved two amendments Tuesday to zoning regulations but turned down a third.
Trustees approved limiting to one the number of vehicles that can be for sale on residential property. The vehicle must have current license plates and the owner must be able to provide proof of ownership.
Vehicles for sale must be parked in the driveway, the front yard or a designated parking space on the property, such as a turnaround or a graveled drive. The vehicle must be in driving condition, and a & quot;for sale & quot; sign must be visible from the road and displayed inside the vehicle.
Also approved was an amendment on gas and oil well regulations requiring that, in situations not covered by state law, township zoning regulations would apply.
Trustees voted down a recommendation that would have created a form they would have had to fill out detailing why they had turned down a zoning commission-requested amendment.
Trustees said the commission was trying to require trustees to do things and the commission doesn't have the power to do that. "The commission can't compel us to do [anything], & quot; trustee Chairman John Vogel said.
