MLB ROUNDUP Tuesday's other games

INTERLEAGUE
White Sox 20, Cardinals 6
CHICAGO -- Joe Crede and A.J. Pierzynski homered during an 11-run, 12-hit third inning and Chicago had its biggest scoring output in a decade. Pierzynski and Paul Konerko had three RBIs each in the third-inning outburst that featured seven straight hits off Mark Mulder. Starting with Crede's leadoff double, the White Sox sent 16 batters to the plate in their biggest inning of the season. Chicago tacked on six more runs in the sixth, Crede hit his second homer in the seventh and the White Sox finished with seasons highs in runs and hits (24). Crede and Jermaine Dye both had four hits for the White Sox. It was the first time since May 15, 1996, against Milwaukee that the White Sox had scored 20 runs in a game. Chicago's 24 hits was its most since it had 24 versus Seattle on August 9, 2000. White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen and reliever David Riske were ejected in the seventh after Chris Duncan was hit with a pitch. The benches had been warned in the bottom of the sixth after St. Louis reliever Sidney Ponson hit two White Sox batters with the bases loaded. Duncan hit a two-run homer in the ninth for the Cardinals, who finished with 16 hits. Mulder (6-5) lasted just 21/3 innings -- his shortest outing of the season -- while giving up 10 hits and nine runs. Brian Anderson followed Crede's double with another one to tie it at 1. After Pablo Ozuna flied out, Tadahito Iguchi, Jim Thome, Konerko and Dye singled in succession. Pierzynski followed with a three-run homer, Juan Uribe singled and then Crede connected on his 11th homer to finally finish Mulder and make it 9-1. Ozuna and Iguchi singled and Thome walked, loading the bases off reliever Brad Thompson before Konerko delivered a two-run single. Uribe added a two-run homer in the fourth.

BALTIMORE -- Florida tied a franchise record with its ninth straight win, using a fine pitching performance by Dontrelle Willis and three home runs to beat Baltimore. He allowed two runs and 12 hits, striking out four and walking none.

BOSTON -- Tim Wakefield pitched six innings to lead Boston to its fifth straight victory. Wakefield (5-8) won for the second time in his last seven starts, allowing one run and four hits. The Red Sox, who have won 11 of their last 12 interleague games, finished with a season-high 17 hits. Alex Cora was 3-for-3 with three runs scored and is 19-for-50 (.380) over his last 17 games.

Yankees 9, Phillies 7
PHILADELPHIA -- Johnny Damon's two-run triple in the eighth inning helped New York overcome Ryan Howard's two homers and seven RBIs. Jason Giambi and Jorge Posada homered and Bernie Williams went 5-for-5 for the Yankees, who ended a three-game losing skid despite another subpar outing from Mike Mussina. Howard hit his 24th and 25th homers to tie Albert Pujols for the major league lead and had a tie-breaking two-run triple in the seventh.
Tigers 10, Brewers 1
MILWAUKEE -- Rookie Zach Miner pitched his first complete game and Magglio Ordonez hit two of Detroit's four home runs. Blue Jays 6, Braves 5
ATLANTA -- Reed Johnson homered and had three hits to help Toronto extend Atlanta's longest losing streak in 17 years. The Braves have dropped eight straight games for the first time since April 24-May 2, 1989. Atlanta has lost 18 of 21 to drop to the bottom of the NL East. Scott Schoenweis (2-0), who struck out pinch-hitter Matt Diaz with the bases loaded to end the seventh, earned the win. B.J. Ryan got the final four outs for his 18th save in 19 opportunities.
Padres 6, Rangers 5
ARLINGTON, Texas -- Mike Cameron hit a tie-breaking two-run homer in the sixth inning to lead San Diego. Trevor Hoffman got the final three outs for his 17th save of the season. With one out, and a runner on first, Mark Teixeira hit a fly ball down the right field line that looked like it went over the foul pole. Teixeira started to celebrate like it was a game-winning homer, but the first base umpire called it a foul ball. The umpires then conferred for two minutes and stuck with their initial call. Teixeira then popped out to third base for the second out of the inning.
Twins 6, Astros 5, 10 innings
HOUSTON -- Justin Morneau led off the 10th inning with a home run as Minnesota extended its winning streak to eight games. Morneau, who has a career-high 11-game hitting streak, hit his 17th homer to left-center on the first pitch from Trever Miller (0-2). He struck out seven and walked three.
