OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- The Baltimore Ravens traded a conditional 2007 draft pick for Indianapolis Colts safety Gerome Sapp on Monday.
The Ravens hope the move creates competition at free safety with rookie Dawan Landry.
"It was just an opportunity presented to us that allows us to upgrade our football team," Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome said. "He knows the system and he won't be penalized by not being here. He gets a chance to start fresh."
Sapp started twice for the Colts last season, recording 16 tackles and 28 special teams tackles.
Redskins
ASHBURN, Va. -- The Washington Redskins signed draft picks Anthony Montgomery, Kedric Golston and Kevin Simon on Monday.
Montgomery, a defensive lineman, was taken in the fifth round out of Minnesota. Golston, a defensive tackle out of Georgia, was taken in the sixth round. Simon, a linebacker from Tennessee, was picked in the seventh round.

KIRKLAND, Wash. -- The Seattle Seahawks released veteran punter Tom Rouen on Monday, after the 13-year veteran played in 12 games for the NFC champions last year. Rouen signed with Seattle on Oct. 5, taking over for Leo Araguz, who was released.
