Highlights from local youth games



Tri-T Colt (ages 15-17)
Austintown Armstrong Cable 14, Campbell North Star Printing 7 -- Blaine Wildman had two hits including a double, scored twice and added an RBI for Austintown. Tom DeToro added three RBIs and two runs while Adam Sterling had three runs and got the complete game victory. Marcus Kraynak had two RBIs and Dan Sacui had a double, an RBI and scored a run for Campbell.
Hubbard Midland Title 18, Lakeview 8
Poland Farmers National Bank 9, Canfield Fast Signs 3 -- Nathan Kelley pitched a complete game for the win. Ryan Maceyko homered for Poland and Steve Platz had four RBIs. Chad Ruehs and Chris Hanna had two hits apiece. John Manzian, Adam Muth and Andrew Zunic each had two hits for Canfield.
South Range DeChellis Dental 6, Austintown Denny's 5 -- Jeff Pilcher allowed two hits and struck out seven. Chris Gause homered and Steve Bensinger had three hits including a triple and a double. Ethan Johnson had three hits for Austintown and Mike Raffa scored twice.
Girard F.O.P. 11, Niles Blue 0 -- Chris Weibel (3-0) had six strikeouts and only two walks. Nick Devore, Larry Goist and Jake Detec all doubled for Girard, and R.J. Trimbur went 2-for-3 with a triple.
Girard F.O.P. 19, Mill Creek 1 -- Jake Detec allowed two hits and fanned five to earn the win. R.J. Trimbur hit for the cycle (single, double, triple and home run) and had five RBIs. Larry Goist homered and Chris Weibel, Nick Devore, Anthony Guerrieri and Daniel Gainey doubled for Girard.
Tri-T Pony (ages 13-14)
Hubbard Steven's Optical 15, Lakeview Davenport 2 -- Dan Helsel hit two home runs for Hubbard and John Osthat and Dave Pettola had three hits apiece. Cole Crawford and Caleb Gelesky had two hits each.
Hubbard Steven's Optical 16, Lakeview Eaton Group 6 -- Helsel hit a home run as did Tim Schiraldi. Schiraldi, Crawford and Gelesky all had three hits.
Hubbard Steven's Optical 11, Howland Black 2 -- Helsel pitched a one-hitter and had nine strikeouts. He also hit a home run. Schiraldi, Pettola and Gelesky each had two hits.
Austintown Home Savings & amp; Loan 12, Poland Dogs 1 -- Eilan Jennings had three hits with two runs scored. John Dina, Jon Deamicis, Tommy Smith and Tyler Hartman each had two hits. Josh Miller pitched a complete game, striking out eight and allowing six hits. Zach Palitski had a hit and scored Poland's run.
Austintown Home Savings & amp; Loan 6, Boardman GF Insulation -- Dina's four hits included a double and he scored three runs. Keynen Jones had two RBIs. Deamicis scattered five hits for the win. Hartman closed the game for a save. For Boardman, Alec Higham's two hits included a double.
Babe Ruth (14-15s)
Astro Falcons 6, Joe Koch Realty 5 -- Tod Kibby scattered four hits and struck out nine in a complete-game win. Boo Vazquez had two hits while Mark Warchol doubled. Dan Eich and Rick Segesto had doubles for Koch.
Rondinelli 10, Wharmby Sports 2 -- Bo Swenson pitched a complete game and had three hits to lead Rondinelli. Shawn Roman, Jaymee Shephard and Jason Bagoly each had two hits. Mickey Saluga had three hits for Wharmby's.
Rizer Group 10, Salem AC 1 -- Jake Thomas scattered five hits through six innings for Rizer Group. Ryan Nisbett had two hits, including a triple, and two RBIs for Rizer. Jake Thomas also had two RBIs and Corey Coffey singled twice. Jay Plesea had two hits for Salem.
Sluggers 4, Mahoning Valley Panthers 3 -- Matt Shelton was doubled and singled to lead Sluggers. Michael Gatta and Joe Sekola both had two hits for the Panthers.
Astro Falcons 4, Mahoning Valley Panthers 3 -- Phil Woods pitched five innings and had two hits and a walk to lead Astro. Dante Lewis pitched two innings for the save. Nick Elliott also had two hits for the Falcons.
Line Drive 5, Sluggers 4 -- Line Drive scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning for the win. Tommy Jackson and Zach Struharik had RBI singles in the rally. Jackson, Isaac Melnick and Robby Boyd had two hits apiece for Line Drive. Adam Shrodek had three hits for Sluggers.
Babe Ruth (age 13)
State Farm 9, Mahoning Valley Panthers 4 -- Reese Swatsworth pitched complete game for State Farm, giving up seven hits. He also had three singles. Nick DiBartolomeo and Erik Travaglini added two hits each for State Farm. For the Panthers, Ran Massey had a double and two singles.
State Farm 12, Sluggers 7 -- Tyler Gargano pitched three innings in relief to earn the win. Garrett Blaschak had three doubles and a single for State Farm while Swatsworth hit a triple and two singles, Erik Travaglini and Matt Gurska had two doubles and a single each.
SOFTBALL
Valley Sting 18U -- Finished with a 6-2 record in the Compuware Tournament in Detroit. Sting won pool games over Guelph Gators, 5-1. Ohio Ice-Philen, 2-0, and Indiana Shockwaves, 5-0. Markie Pozzuto pitched a no-hitter against Ohio Ice-Philen. In double elimination play, Sting defeated Bustos Ultimates 2-0 before a 3-0 loss to Compuware (Michigan). Sting then defeated Ohio Swarm, 6-2, and Munster Magic (Indiana), 5-0 before losing 6-2 to Cincinnati Elite. Pitchers Kasey Karr of Champion and Pozzuto (Maplewood) held their opponents to six runs. Allie Patton (Poland) had 12 hits, while Trisha Dreslinski and Kari Thompson (Poland) had nine each. Karr had eight hits, Tanya Davis (Hinckley) had seven, Chelsea Butler (Cortland) had six and Amber Jarvis (Mathews) had five. Valley Sting is 20-5 this season.
