NEW SPRINGFIELD -- Springfield Township trustees announced that any Petersburg residents interested in obtaining public water service should come to the township offices, 3475 E. South Range Road, and sign the petition indicating that they want the service.
Spring Dog Festival
SALEM -- Alchemy Acres Animal Sanctuary in Salem is hosting a Spring Dog Festival on Saturday at the Canfield Fairgrounds.
The event includes 4-H displays, a petting zoo, pony rides and a silent auction.
There will also be contests for children. Scrappy from the Mahoning Valley Scrappers will be on hand to judge the events.

Kubiak to retire soon
WARREN -- Bob Kubiak, who has served as executive director of the Trumbull County Children Services Board since 1999, will retire in the next several months, he has told board members. Kubiak, 58, said he has not set a date for his departure and says it is still too early for him to say what he will be doing in his retirement or discuss what the impact will be on the agency. He notified the board at a meeting June 5.
Recycling site vote
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Lawrence County commissioners plan to vote on a new site for recycling in Shenango Township. Commissioners intend to vote on an agreement Tuesday that would place the blue recycling bins at the Shenango Township Municipal Building on Willowgrove Road. The county recently removed bins from the Giant Eagle store in Shenango Township because of an overflow of trash near the bins.
Adventure course
AUSTINTOWN -- D & amp;E Counseling Center, a nonprofit child/adolescent behavioral health center, recently dedicated its outdoor high adventure course in honor of Michael Antonoff, a member of the center's board of trustees from 1995 to 2001. Antonoff is a retired assistant vice president of customer relations with Home Savings & amp; Loan Co. of Youngstown. In addition, Antonoff was a four-term Austintown Township trustee.
