YOUNGSTOWN -- The Youngstown Social Security Administration office, 101 E. Federal St., will have reduced services to the public this week as it moves to its new location at 354 E. Federal St., effective 9 a.m. June 26. Social Security beneficiaries and the public are encouraged to use Social Security's toll-free phone service at (800) 772-1213 while the office is moving. Also, the public can apply for benefits, conduct business or obtain information without making an appointment, calling or visiting a Social Security office by accessing the Web site at www.socialsecurity.gov/.
Nighttime mosquito fog
LIBERTY -- The township will have Alexander's Pest Control fog for mosquitoes from dusk to 2 a.m. Monday and Tuesday. In the event of adverse weather conditions, fogging will take place on subsequent evenings.
Short traffic delays
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Traffic on the Pennsylvania Turnpike will be stopped periodically from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday and Tuesday in an area about three miles east of the Gateway Interchange in Lawrence County. The delays are for the setting of concrete beams for an overhead bridge at milepost 4.33. Lane closures are scheduled for all eastbound lanes Monday and all westbound lanes Tuesday. Stops should be no longer than 15 minutes.
Classes for baby sitters
SHARON, Pa. -- Mercer American Red Cross will have its annual baby-sitter's training course from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Chapter House, 247 S. Oakland Ave. Cost is $40 and includes a first-aid kit, baby-sitter's handbook and backpack. To register, call (724) 981-3205.
Cooling seniors' homes
YOUNGSTOWN -- Jamira Ellis, director of MyCap Heap, will speak about the crisis cooling program at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the E.B. Family Life Center. All seniors 60 and over are eligible for electric assistance, but must have a doctor's statement to receive an air conditioner. Those under 60 must have a doctor's statement to receive electric assistance or an air conditioner. Bring a current electric bill, current gas bill, photo ID, Social Security cards for all household members and a record of the household income for the last 90 days. Air conditioners can be obtained only every three years.
The Life Center is at 7 S. Garland Ave. in the former Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church.
