Muscular Dystrophy Association to jail residents just for fund

The MDA provides help for those affected by neuromuscular diseases.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Many of Youngstown's community leaders have been put on the "Most Wanted" list and may be put behind bars at the Youngstown State Stadium Club during a fundraiser planned as a benefit by the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Those jailbirds will be sentenced to serve time on June 28 or June 29, and will be encouraged to raise $1,800 bail in order to be released.
Those who are jailed may register online to help raise the bail. By contacting Kate Forster at kforster@mdausa.org, they can learn to customize a Web page with a photo and e-mail a link to friends, family or co-workers who will be able to make a secure donation online.
Each person who is jailed will be booked and have a mug shot taken, and will be fed the finest "bread and water" while incarcerated. Bail raisers will also receive key chains, T-shirts, plaques and invitations to appear on the Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon.
Proceeds from the lockup will send local children with neuromuscular diseases to MDA's summer camp at Camp Cheerful in Strongsville, and will benefit families in the Youngstown area in many ways. MDA provides assistance with the purchase of wheelchairs, leg braces and communication devices for patients, and offers local support groups as well as funds medical clinics at St. Elizabeth Health Center and at Metro Health in Cleveland.
