MLB ROUNDUP \ Friday's other games

INTERLEAGUE
Tigers 5, Cubs 3
CHICAGO -- Nate Robertson pitched seven effective innings and Curtis Granderson doubled, tripled and scored twice to lead Detroit. Robertson (7-3) allowed two runs and five hits as the AL Central-leading Tigers won for the seventh time in nine games. The Cubs lost their fourth in a row. Todd Jones worked a perfect ninth for his 18th save. Marcus Thames led off the second inning with his 13th home run to extend his hitting streak to nine games. Chicago's Henry Blanco, starting at catcher while Michael Barrett's appeal of a suspension was heard, had an RBI single in the second and hit his first home run of the season, a solo shot in the fourth.
White Sox 12, Reds 4
CINCINNATI -- Joe Crede's first-inning grand slam got Chicago's high-powered offense rolling, and the White Sox extended their interleague domination of Cincinnati. Crede also had a double and a single, and Scott Podsednik drove in three runs with a pair of singles as the White Sox rocked left-hander Brandon Claussen (3-8) and kept on going against Cincinnati's rickety bullpen. Cincinnati hasn't had much success overall against the White Sox, losing their last seven games. The White Sox are 10-2 against the Reds in interleague play.
Devil Rays 10, Phillies 4
PHILADELPHIA -- Julio Lugo homered twice and Damon Hollins had his first four-hit game and drove in three runs to lead Tampa Bay. James Shields pitched six innings and Carl Crawford also had four hits for the Devil Rays. Shields (3-0) allowed three runs and six hits, striking out six in his fourth major league start. Hollins, who entered in a 1-for-20 slump, fell a triple short of the cycle.
Orioles 6, Mets 3
NEW YORK -- Erik Bedard won his first game in a month and Melvin Mora hit a two-run home run against his former team as Baltimore ended New York's winning streak at eight games. Mora's two-run shot capped a four-run seventh inning for the Orioles, who had lost three straight. Cuban defector Alay Soler limited Baltimore to four hits over six innings and the Mets were leading 3-2 when Aaron Heilman (0-2) relieved at the start of the seventh. He got in trouble immediately, walking Kevin Millar and Nick Markakis to start the inning. Brian Roberts' grounder drove in the tying run and Brandon Fahey looped a single to left to give Baltimore a 4-3 lead. Mora followed with his ninth homer of the season. Bedard (6-6) last won on May 17 against Boston and had lost his last four decisions. He allowed just three hits over six innings, walking three and striking out six.
Yankees 7, Nationals 5
WASHINGTON -- Bernie Williams hit a solo home run in the ninth to put New York ahead to stay. The Yankees came back from deficits of 3-2 and 5-3, tying the game with two runs in the eighth, and adding two more in the ninth off Nationals closer Chad Cordero (2-2). Williams hit the first pitch from Cordero for his sixth homer of the season.
Marlins 3, Blue Jays 1
MIAMI -- Scott Olsen won his fourth consecutive start and Dan Uggla hit a go-ahead home run to lead Florida. Uggla's two-run drive in the fifth off Ty Taubenheim (0-4) gave Florida a 2-1 lead. Uggla's 12th homer of the season was his second in two games.
Royals 7, Astros 2
HOUSTON -- Scott Elarton was perfect for five innings and Reggie Sanders had two RBIs and scored twice for Kansas City. In his first start against the team that he began his career with, Elarton (2-8) retired the first 15 batters before giving up four hits and two runs in the sixth for his second win of the year.
Rangers 5, Diamondbacks 3
ARLINGTON, Texas -- Kevin Millwood pitched into eighth inning to win his fifth straight decision, helped by groundballs both offensively and defensively. Major league ERA leader Brandon Webb (8-2) was inducing groundballs as usual, but the Rangers got three runs and five hits off him in the first inning to go ahead to stay.
Reds Sox 4, Braves 1
ATLANTA -- Jon Lester earned his first major league win with six good innings and Jason Varitek hit a three-run double for Boston. Lester (1-0), a 22-year-old left-hander, allowed one run and five hits with three walks, and struck out five in his second major league start.
NATIONAL LEAGUE
Cardinals 8, Rockies 1
ST. LOUIS -- Jason Marquis worked eight innings, helping St. Louis beat Colorado. Chris Duncan and Yadier Molina drove in a run apiece against Aaron Cook (5-7) in a two-run fourth and the Cardinals broke it open with a six-run eighth against three relievers. St. Louis has won four of five and snapped the Rockies' four-game road winning streak.
