Task force to give progress report
LISBON -- The Columbiana County Land Use Task Force will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Lisbon Lions Club.
The session will update Columbiana County residents and all interested parties on the progress of the land use plan to date.
It also will include the presentation of the actual survey that will be available to all county residents. The survey seeks residents' opinions on a number of issues relevant to the plan. Meeting attendees may fill out the survey or discuss it with the steering committee.
Tom Konst of Carroll County, who was involved in the development and adoption of a comprehensive land use plan in that county, will make a presentation on that county's experiences of developing a land use plan.
The survey will be available during the summer at several locations throughout the county as well as on the Land Use Task Force Web site accessible through www.columbianacounty.org.
The completed plan will be a consultative document requiring adoption by the board of commissioners that will support economic growth while protecting the environment and preserving agriculture land.
The first Columbiana County Land Use Plan was completed in 1967. The 1996 attempt to update it was never used.
