Sex offender waives preliminary hearing

YOUNGSTOWN -- Charles Gorham, who police said failed to register as a sex offender, waived his preliminary hearing Thursday in municipal court.
Judge Elizabeth A. Kobly bound the case over to a Mahoning County grand jury. Gorham, 37, of West Dewey Avenue, had been charged earlier this year with failing to register as a sex offender when he moved from a house in McDonald.
A Trumbull County grand jury elected not to indict him on the charge. He was arrested by Boardman police last week on the Youngstown charge. In court Thursday, Gorham asked reporters not to use his photo on TV or in The Vindicator. "You guys are gonna get me killed," he said.
When he didn't get the response he wanted from reporters, he complained to his lawyer, Robert Rohrbaugh, whose response was, "Freedom of the press."
