IN BRIEF What was done

Highlights of actions taken Thursday by the Supreme Court. The justices:
Ruled 5-4 that a health-care provider for federal employees cannot file suit in federal court to obtain a share of a worker's personal injury award obtained in a state court. Empire Healthchoice v. McVeigh, 05-200.
In a unanimous decision, gave what might be a temporary victory to mutual fund investors by sending their lawsuits back to Illinois state court, saying their claims of negligence and breach of fiduciary duties don't belong in federal court. Kircher v. Putnam Funds, 05-409.
Ruled 6-3 that claims over a company's unpaid workers' compensation premiums are not entitled to priority status in resolving a bankruptcy. Howard Delivery Service v. Zurich American Insurance, 05-128.
