*"Seussical the Musical" will delight a young and young-at-heart audience with its opening performance at 8 p.m. on the Straw Hat Theatre stage at Ashtabula Arts Center, 2928 W. 13th St., Ashtabula. Other shows will be at 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and June 22-24. The show blends many of Dr. Seuss' magical characters including Horton the elephant, "the cat in the hat," Gertrude McFuzz, Wickersham brothers, the Whos of Whoville and the Grinch. j Rise and Shine Bike Day at the Chevrolet Centre starts at 9:30 a.m. with food, entertainment, vendors and prizes. Enthusiasts will take a road trip to the Shriners' Children's Hospital in Erie, Pa., followed by festivities. Last year, the event raised $9,000 for the hospital and this year's goal is $15,000.
*It's the final day of the Three Rivers Arts Festival in downtown Pittsburgh. You still have time to take in the sights and sounds of the event with art, music and cultural displays. Spend the day and sample some of the food fare.
* There will be plenty of food, games, music and family fun at three festivals that will get under way Thursday. They are Cortland Lions Street Fair in downtown Cortland, which runs through June 24; St. Pius X Parish Family Festival, 1401 Montcrest in Warren, through June 25; and St. Charles Church Festival, 7345 Westivew Drive, Boardman, through June 25.
*The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra will present three free outdoor concerts. They are scheduled at 7:30 p.m. June 30 at the Watson Institute in Sewickley, Pa., at 8 p.m. July 1 at South Park; and at 8:15 p.m. July 2 at Hartwood Acres in Pittsburgh. The performances in South Park and Hartwood are made possible by Allegheny County and are presented by the Allegheny County Office of Special Events.
