Discovery crew arrives at Cape Canaveral
CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (AP) -- The crew of space shuttle Discovery arrived at the Kennedy Space Center on Tuesday for several days of dress rehearsals in preparation for a July launch.
The seven crew mates arrived a day later than planned because of Tropical Storm Alberto, which made landfall Tuesday well northwest of Cape Canaveral. They flew in a Gulfstream aircraft instead of the usual training jets because of the stormy weather.
"It's great to be here, finally, a day late," said Steve Lindsey, the crew's commander. "My crew and I are optimistic that early July looks good."
