Police disperse crowd
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- City police had to use aerosol canisters of tear gas to disperse dozens of young people fighting on Kennedy Square. Police Chief Tom Sansone said the youngsters apparently were coming from a dance held Saturday night at 7 E. Washington St. when police were called at 10:08 p.m. He said the manager at the nearby Burger King locked the restaurant doors and called police when youngsters started banging on the windows and doors. Five police officers responded and found about 50 to 60 young people near the Coney Island restaurant and multiple ongoing fights. Police said several of those involved started grabbing and shaking traffic control signs in an effort to pull them down. The youngsters started to disperse only after police used the tear gas. Police arrested two juveniles and one 18-year-old and charged them with disorderly conduct and disturbing the peace.
