State releases $364,466 to KSU for heating, cooling upgrades, roof
SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR
COLUMBUS -- The state is releasing more than $350,000 to Kent State University for replacement of heating and cooling equipment and a roof at a university building.
Without comment Monday, the State Controlling Board approved the release of $364,466 for improvements at KSU's Business Administration Building.
The university plans to remove and replace the roof of a lecture hall at the business administration building and to replace the heating and cooling units, state officials said. Workers plan to remove the stone ballast, single-ply rubber roofing and insulation down to the concrete roof. The roof will be replaced with a new tapered insulation and a modified bitumen roofing system.
As part of the work, the two, 35-year-old heating, ventilation and cooling system rooftop units also will be replaced with equipment that state officials say is energy-efficient.
In other business, the board released $209,310 to the Rootstown-based Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine for a renovation and construction project.
State officials say the money will be used to renovate a suite of space formerly occupied by NEOUCOM's Department of Family Medicine.
The renovation will be geared to accommodate the needs of several NEOUCOM departments, state officials say.
