Marshals arrest Tenn. man wanted on variety of charges
The man, 53, is wanted in a shooting, among other crimes.
YOUNGSTOWN -- A U.S. Marshals task force arrested a Tennessee man wanted on several charges, including a shooting involving his wife.
Members of the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested Robert G. Rossi, 53, about 12:15 p.m. Monday on Wayne Avenue.
Robert Rossi, 53, whose last known address was in Henry County, Tenn., had five warrants out for his arrest, said Dean Michael, task force coordinator.
Warrants
The warrants were one count each of aggravated domestic assault, felony theft, and credit card fraud and two counts of passing bad checks.
The aggravated domestic assault stemmed from a shooting involving Rossi's wife.
The marshals service added that Rossi is a reputed member of the Outlaws Motorcycle Gang.
Investigators developed information from tips that Rossi was in the area and arrested him as he was preparing to flee Youngstown by a tractor-trailer.
Rossi is in the Mahoning County jail awaiting extradition to Tennessee. He has been arrested in four states, the first time in 1974, and has 14 prior felony convictions, investigators said.
Those convictions include transportation of stolen firearms, assault of a federal officer, sexual assault, drug possession and numerous fraud and theft related convictions. Rossi also has 33 known aliases and has traveled the county extensively while on the run, a marshals spokesman added.
