Forum Health says it pays more in labor costs than other hospitals
YOUNGSTOWN -- Forum Health officials say the ratio of the company's labor costs to revenues are above the national average for hospitals.
In the latest edition of the Forum Flash, the company newsletter, officials said that 57 percent of Forum's total revenue goes for labor costs, which includes wages and benefits.
By comparison, they said, that figure for Humility of Mary Health Partners is 48 percent. HMHP runs St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown and provides other serves at its Boardman campus and St. Joseph Health Center in Warren.
Furthermore, the newsletter says the national average for hospitals such as Forum's 46 percent of operating revenue goes to labor costs. They did not cite the source for those figures.
Officials also noted that the Beeghly Oaks in Boardman facility is not for sale. They admitted that here has been outside interest in many Forum facilities -- much of it "driven by media coverage of Forum's financial struggles and the management team's efforts to explore potential sales and/or partners for select services."
While Forum has provided tours and information about all of its operations to qualified prospective partners, Forum officials said, Beeghly Oaks is not "on the market" for sale.
