Dave Beda, left, of Austintown, and Denny Billec of Campbell, employees for Becdir Construction Co., Berlin Center, continue work on the Newton Falls covered bridge. The $1 million rehabilitation project started in July 2005. The Trumbull County bridge, built in 1831 and located on Arlington Street over the east branch of the Mahoning River, is the second-oldest covered bridge in Ohio and the state's last covered bridge still being used in its original location. The span is scheduled to reopen by the end of the year.
